Privacy policy

This policy explains how David Bowman, trading as DBasc, handles personal information when you visit dbasc.co.uk or contact us about consultancy services.

Last updated: 30 September 2026

1. Who is responsible for your information?

David Bowman, trading as DBasc (David Bowman Associates), is the controller responsible for personal information handled in connection with this website and consultancy enquiries.

For questions about this policy, privacy concerns or requests relating to your personal information, email info@dbasc.co.uk or telephone 07506 767166.

2. Information you provide when contacting us

When you contact us by email or telephone, we receive the information you choose to provide. This may include your name, email address, telephone number, organisation, job role and details of your enquiry. We may retain correspondence and relevant notes of our discussions.

The website does not currently provide a visitor file-upload facility or a contact form. If a contact form is introduced, this policy will be updated to explain its collection and handling of information.

Providing information for an enquiry is voluntary. Without sufficient information or a way to contact you, we may be unable to respond or prepare a proposal. Please provide only personal information relevant to your enquiry.

3. How we use enquiry information

We use enquiry information to respond to requests, understand your requirements, arrange discussions, prepare proposals and maintain a relevant record of our communications.

For general business enquiries and communications with people representing organisations, our lawful basis is legitimate interests. Our interests are responding to requests, developing appropriate business relationships and administering our consultancy business. We consider your rights and reasonable expectations when using information for these purposes.

Where you ask us to take steps towards a contract with you personally, or information is necessary to perform that contract, we rely on contractual necessity. This basis does not automatically apply when you are acting on behalf of a company.

Where information must be retained or disclosed to comply with a legal requirement, our lawful basis is legal obligation. If an enquiry becomes a consultancy engagement, we will provide any additional privacy information needed for that work.

4. Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics, installed through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to understand how visitors use this website. This helps us assess which content is useful and improve the website’s structure and navigation.

With your consent, Google Analytics uses cookies and associated identifiers to collect information about website interactions. This may include pages viewed, engagement with content, how you reached the website, approximate location and information about your browser and device.

Our lawful basis for this analytics processing is consent. You can accept or reject analytics cookies through our cookie controls. You can change or withdraw your choice through the website’s cookie settings. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew consent.

Google receives website usage information through the Analytics service. Further information about Google’s use of information from websites using its services is available through the link below.

5. Search Console and technical information

We use Google Search Console to understand how the website appears in Google Search. Search Console verification does not itself place Google Analytics cookies on your device.

Our hosting and security services may process technical information associated with website requests, including IP addresses, requested pages, request times and technical error information. This information may be needed to deliver the website, maintain its reliability and investigate misuse or security incidents.

Where technical information is processed for these operational and security purposes, our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the website.

6. Who may receive your information?

Providers of website hosting, email, IT support and security services may process relevant information to support our business. Google receives analytics information as described in this policy.

Relevant information may also be disclosed to professional advisers or authorities where necessary to obtain advice, meet a legal requirement or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not sell personal information. Contacting DBasc does not automatically subscribe you to marketing from Zebsoft or another business.

If a referral to another organisation would help with your enquiry, we will explain the proposed referral and agree it with you before passing on your contact details for that purpose.

7. International processing

[CONFIRM BEFORE PUBLICATION: Identify any processing outside the UK by Google and the website, email or support providers. State the relevant destinations and applicable adequacy arrangements or contractual safeguards, and explain how individuals can obtain information about those safeguards.]

8. How long we keep information

We retain enquiry information for as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry and relevant follow-up. We consider whether discussions remain active, whether a proposal or engagement results and whether records are needed to address a complaint, dispute or legal obligation.

Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised. Records relating to a consultancy engagement may require longer retention because of contractual, accounting or legal requirements.

[CONFIRM BEFORE PUBLICATION: Add the user-level and event-level retention period selected in Google Analytics, whether retention resets on new activity, and the applicable technical-log retention arrangements. Cookie lifetimes should also be disclosed through the site’s cookie information.]

9. Protecting your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse. Access is limited to what is needed for the relevant purpose. No internet transmission or storage arrangement can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis used, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict its use or receive certain information in a portable format.

Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

To make a request, email info@dbasc.co.uk. We may need sufficient information to verify your identity before disclosing personal information or acting on a request. Rights are subject to applicable conditions and exemptions.

Your right to object

You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. You also have an absolute right to object to the use of your information for direct marketing. Email info@dbasc.co.uk to raise an objection.
